About

About Plant Guidance

Plant Guidance started with a simple frustration: plant care advice online is either too technical or too vague. “Water when dry” — okay, but how dry? “Bright indirect light” — what does that even mean for my north-facing window?

We’re here to answer those questions properly.

What we cover

  • Houseplant care — watering, light, repotting, and fixing common problems (yellow leaves, drooping, pests) for popular indoor plants.
  • Vegetable gardening — beginner-friendly guides to growing tomatoes, peppers, herbs, and more, from seed to harvest.
  • Honest product guides — potting soils, grow lights, and tools, compared on real specs so you can buy with confidence.

How we create content

Every article starts with research: university extension publications, botanical garden references, and real gardener questions from communities like Reddit’s r/houseplants and r/gardening. We write in plain English, show our sources, and update articles as we learn more. Read our full Editorial Policy for the details.

Sophie Mitchell, founder and editor of Plant Guidance

Sophie Mitchell is the founder and editor of Plant Guidance. What started as a windowsill full of pothos cuttings turned into a full-blown obsession with houseplants and vegetable gardening. She believes plant care shouldn’t require a botany degree — just clear answers, honest advice, and a little patience.
